About the course

The Speech & Stuttering Institute’s Motor Speech e-course is based on the Motor Speech Treatment Protocol for children 36 months and older. This fully asynchronous course includes a series of modules that include core content, videos, interactive activities, and resources. In this course, participants learn how to:

  • Identify and set treatment goals from a motor (movement) perspective;
  • Use hierarchical and multisensory cueing strategies to help children improve motor speech control and speech production accuracy;
  • Incorporate motor learning principles into therapy sessions to facilitate acquisition and generalization of new motor speech skills; and
  • Involve parents as partners and develop their ability to support their child’s speech development at home.

Past participants have told us that it takes approximately 7 to 14 hours to complete the course; however, this time can vary, depending on your familiarity with the material as well as the number of times you review videos or course content. You have three months to complete the course, and you can do it at your own pace and on your own schedule.
